Apart from that great trauma of a car accident and losing her mom within the blink of an eye, I could relate to her. She’s a book blogger (like myself, so that was another fun aspect of that book) and apparently gets tons of books to review (which I don’t) and has Cinder at her side to bicker with (okay, this is getting frustrating). Even so much that Ella cosplays as her namesake Ellamara from The Druid Prince series at a convention that happens in the book. Sometimes I thought that Ella was too whiny because she basically cried all the time, on the other hand I really understood why she was crying and was sad? Maybe it‘s just not a book to read in one sitting but to digest it a bit from time to time, so I can process Ella’s emotions better.Īlso, I enjoyed the fact that both Cinder and Ella were fantasy nerds who enjoy the same series. It was dramatic, cheesy and fluffy, nothing too complicated, apart from the relationship of Ella and Cinder, which is in fact complicated. That’s how addicting it was to read, plus the writing style wasn’t too complicated and had a flow that made me read fast. Having needed a break from A Promised Land by Barack Obama, I welcomed Cinder & Ella pretty easily and binge-read it within a day. Will a meeting happen and what are the risks of revealing their true identities? My Opinion
Also, Ella has her scars and trauma hidden while Cinder in reality is Brian Oliver, the upcoming actor who is going to play Cinder in The Druid Prince movie adaptation.
They seem to know each other inside and out but are hesitant to meet and embrace reality. She somehow manages through the trauma and pain with anonymous Cinder at her side, a friend she has found when he had commented on her blog entry on Ella’s favorite book series The Druid Prince three years ago. After months of coma and surgeries and no other closer relatives to care for her, she has to move to Los Angeles to her estranged father who has left Ella and her mom when Ella was 7 years old. When Ellamara is on her way for a special treat on her birthday with her mom, a car accident happens in which her mom dies and leaves Ella with severe scars and pain.
